Dishwasher Soap

Ingredients:

Borax
Super Washing Soda
Citric Acid*

Mix one part each ingredient, use 1 tablespoon per load.

*I've found citric acid in the bulk section of the market.

Laundry Soap

I've been making our laundry soap for about a year now, I experimented with different bar soaps and different portions of the ingredients, until deciding upon this recipe:

1 bar Fels Naphtha
1C Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
1/2C Borax
water
5 gallon pail with lid

Using a cheese grater, grate the bar of soap, dump in bottom of empty pail.  I use a 4C pyrex glass measure to heat water in the microwave, add the first pitcher very hot of water, to the grated soap and stir, heat and add another pitcher full of water, stir until the soap is disolved.  Add the washing soda and borax, stir until dissolved, continue stirring {there is lots of stirring involved}, finish filling the pail about  2/3 full with warm water, keep stirring, it will foam a little.  Once the ingredients are well combined, put the lid on the pail.  Let sit over night.  In the morning, you'll find a congeled blob.  Using a large wire whisk or something with holes, break up the gel.   Use 1/2C per load.
