Sweet Hickory BBQ Sauce
3/4C ketsup
3T Apple cider vinegar
1/2t liquid smoke {a little goes a long way!!!}
1/2C molasses
1/4C water
2T Worcestershire sauce
1/4C brown sugar
1T yellow mustard
Whisk all ingredients in good sauce pan, over medium heat. Bring to boil, boil at least 5 min, the longer it boils the more it will reduce {thicken}. It is a thinner sauce. Cool. Store in Mason jar with a plastic cap in frig. Keeps for several weeks.
The beauty with this recipe is that it can be tweaked in so many ways! The basic ingredients are ketsup, molasses, vinegar and Worcestershire sauce- the other ingredients can be substituted. Try honey or real maple syrup instead of brown sugar {for maple flavouring leave the brown sugar}.
